Director Scott Stewart shares information about auditioning for The Kilties, an all-age corps, below.
With the winter drum corps preparation season upon us, do you find yourself without a drum corps family and thinking you need to give up your dream to march in 2013? If so, I have good news for you!
Many talented people like you find a welcoming environment and “culture of excellence” in The Kilties. Time and time again, we hear how this all-age corps was the right choice for those looking for a positive marching experience. Here are some reasons why you may want to consider coming on board yet this year:
A world-class learning opportunity. The Kilties offer an atmosphere of learning that is as unique as it is effective. Every member of our staff is here to help you because they love what they do—not because they need to build a resume. They are knowledgeable and know how to help you build your skills and challenge you to grow, no matter your skill level.
An environment of mutual respect. We value our membership as people, as colleagues, as friends. Every level of the organization embodies this belief. You will feel welcomed and respected from the moment you set foot in a Kilties rehearsal.
A culture of excellence. The Kilties believe in reaching for personal excellence and the reward of achieving success as a team. Expectations are high—but so are the rewards. We also prove each and every time we are together that excellence and enjoyment are not conflicting terms.
An affordable option. This corps works extremely hard to keep costs low. Our staff is not getting rich. As the director, I take no money for what I do. We have dozens of very talented people donating their time to make this corps successful on and off the field. What does this mean to you? We offer you the lowest dues in the activity – $350 for one year covers all camps, transportation to and housing at distant shows, the majority of your meals when with the corps, your equipment and all but a few uniform costs. The Kilties are an amazing value.
A do-able schedule. The Kilties believe in the integrity and responsible nature of our members. Therefore, we count on every member to do the work they need to do at home. This means we are able to accomplish a tremendous level of excellence on a minimally invasive schedule. Because of this, all schedule dates are mandatory; however, you will find it to be a very do-able and rewarding summer of rehearsals and appearances.
I truly believe there is something special happening in The Kilties. Here, we have created an environment that truly focuses on the member experience. No matter your age, know that The Kilties offers you this option.
We have only a few spots left for 2013, and these spots will likely be closed within a few weeks. No matter your area of expertise, I would love to talk to you and find a place for you here. In either case, I urge you to check out our website. I would also welcome you to give me a call and chat or go ahead and fill out a request for more information. I can be reached at (608) 842-0217.
