Jamison gave a President’s Report, reviewing the bankruptcy and the events of the last year. Also, he mentioned the goal is to put a corps back on the field eventually, maybe in Northern Indiana or Northwest Ohio.
Kyle reported on the 501(c)3 process. The IRS has received our app. It will be several months before we complete our 501(c)3 process, but the hardest part is over with the submission of our request.
Elizabeth gave a Treasurer’s Report. She reviewed all of our revenue and expenses. After making a $4,700 contribution to DCI, we currently have a balance of $2204.49. Our ongoing expenses include a $79 per month expense to store the memorabilia we retained from Glassmen West and a $75 per month expense for the CorpsData information on file.
Dawn reported on the Fundraising activities we are doing. She reviewed that we made a decision to stop activities when the bankruptcy was announced until we complete our 501c3 status. We are now resuming some fundraising activities. She discussed a fundraiser for covering the $79 monthly expense of our storage locker. We are auctioning off prints of a watercolor of Glassmen West painted by alumni parent Dianna Porter. Interested people can make donations on an ongoing basis or just purchase a watercolor for $25. She also appealed for help to increase our fundraising activities for the future. All information is available at glassmenalumni.org. She also reported DCI has requested our help for the All Star Review. Details will follow as to how we will help with that.
Chris Ortlieb reported as Historian that we recovered all of the memorabilia that has any historical value from Glassmen West and it is all currently stored in a safe, dry, locked facility in Fort Wayne.
Erin Carr reported as the Corps Liaison about the Glassmen Alumni Ensemble. It was created originally to perform at the All Star Review and ended the year with a performance at the SoundSport kickoff event the day of DCI Finals at Lucas Oil Stadium. There has been an increasing interest by former staff and members to continue this group.
Jenny Tilley reported as the Communications Director. We launched The Glassmen Experience Facebook page in November to keep everyone connected. We also still have a Glassmen Alumni Association Facebook page, a Twitter feed, and our webpage. We are recruiting individuals to assist with managing the Twitter feed we have and also for a group to discuss the best way to prioritize our social media options. She also reported our demographic survey results.
Kim is the Events coordinator. She reported we assisted at the All Star Review and created the Gus Glassmen. For more info on Gus, visit his facebook page…Gus Glassmen.
We will be assisting with three DCI shows this summer: June 22 at All Star Review in Bowling Green, June 27 in Muncie, Indiana, and July 8 in Fort Wayne. Details will follow as we get them.
Jamison concluded the report portion of the meeting.
The next board meeting scheduled meeting is Sunday, February 9 at 8 pm.
