Joe Sparks resides in St. Louis, Missouri and has over 17 years of educational experience in the marching arts. As a performer Mr. Sparks is a former member of The Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps and Black Gold Drum Corps. Joe is a former member of the “Razorbacks Band” University of Arkansas and “The Pride” Missouri State University. Joe is a trombonist for a traditional jazz ensemble, Annie and the Fur Trappers.
Mr. Sparks educational marching arts and pageantry experience includes Gold Drum and Bugle Corps 2014 open class finalist where he was acting Brass Caption Head. Visual team member with The Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps 2004,2006 world class finalist. Visual clinician for Teal Sound Drum Corps 2005 Division II Finalist.
In 2005 Mr. Sparks co-authored with Mr. Scott Bush, of the B & S Basics,” a comprehensive guide to contemporary marching basics”, utilized by programs across the country. Joe is a former visual team member of Marion Cadets Drum Corps 2002 Drum Corps World Magazine “most improved”, and 2003 Division III bronze medalists. Mr. Sparks is the former Visual Coordinator for O’Fallon Township, Illinois high school band 2004-2008. Mr. Sparks is currently in his 7th year as Program Coordinator for the Francis Howell High School Marching Band. In addition to his work as an instructor Mr. Sparks is a freelance clinician and adjudicator.
