Our 2015 annual meeting took place Sunday, March 1. To listen to a recording and view past meeting information, click here.
After Glassmen Inc. declared bankruptcy a little over a year ago, some alumni requested that we make jackets available again. It took some work, but the GAA board was able to make this happen. Check out these examples, which more than 50 Glassmen recently received by mail. We’ll let you know the next time we place an order!
Join us at 1 p.m. EST Sunday, March 1, for our annual meeting.
This meeting is open to all.
Please note that you may need to update your browser or install a plugin to participate.
The Board of Directors will present via audio, and attendees will have the chance to participate in a chat window. Please post in the comments or contact us if you have questions.
Jenny Porter Tilley wrote this post as part of our Glassmen alumni blog series. She was a member of the brass section in 2001 and 2002.
It’s not unusual to hear odd sounds in an old, crumbling building in the middle of nowhere. Those of us burdened with an overwhelming sense of logic can always attribute it to something our teeny human brains can comprehend: Plumbing. Wind. Settling. Animals. The person sleeping nearby.
We’re conducting our annual survey to collect information and comments from alumni to help us make decisions about our direction. It’s important that we get as many alumni as possible, from all eras, to fill out our brief form.
The survey is anonymous, and it should only take a few minutes of your time. Click here to begin!

Happy holidays, and thank you for your support!
Last year, we renamed Black Friday as “Glass Friday” for all Glassmen alumni and supporters. It’s a weekend many of us attended our first Glassmen camp and a day look back and think about how the corps helped you become who you are today. It’s also a chance to reconnect with your Glassmen family by reaching out to someone you’ve lost touch with.
Take part in our upcoming holiday by commenting here or joining the Facebook event and leaving a message on the event page for an alum, staff member, volunteer or fan who made your Glassmen experience unforgettable! Invite them to this event, tag them and let them know how much you appreciate it.
Reconnecting is more important than shopping, but we didn’t forget that Glass Friday is also Black Friday. Consider these shopping options:
1) iGive.com: Register and designate “Glassmen Alumni Association” as your charity to shop online at more than 1,500 retailers, including Barnes & Noble, Toys R Us, Kohl’s, Bed Bath & Beyond and Best Buy.
2) Amazon Smile: Choose “Glassmen Alumni Association” as your charity and take advantage of this year’s Black Friday deals on Amazon.
Using both of these options, a small percentage of your purchase goes to the GAA, to be used for initiatives storage of valuable Glassmen memories and future projects.
We need your help to gather more items to digitize and complete our history. We’ll take photos, programs, tour schedules, patches — anything to do with the Glassmen that can be easily mailed and scanned. It’s our goal to collect as much as possible from all Glassmen seasons.
You can send your items to the Glassmen Alumni Association by mail. We’ll make sure they get back to you. If you have items to send, or additional questions, please e-mail email@example.com. Include your full name (and previous names, if yours has changed), your return address, what you’ve got and the years your photos/other items are from. We’ll get back to you ASAP and let you know where to send them.
We promise to take good care of anything you send, but cannot assume responsibility for any damage when mailing. We’ll scan and return them to you by mail as soon as possible.
A recap of the Glassmen Alumni Association Board of Directors meeting is now available on our website. Board members discussed this year’s DCI finals and surrounding social events; future planning for a performing ensemble; outreach; and merchandise, among other topics.
Meeting recaps are available online once they have been approved by board vote at the following meeting. Past recaps and additional documents are also available at www.glassmenalumni.org/meetings. If you have questions, comments or concerns, please use the comments section.
The Glassmen Alumni Association Board of Directors would like to extend our gratitude to our dedicated Glassmen volunteers.
Last year, two longtime Glassmen volunteers, Carol Dewan and Tina Jameson, assembled a cookbook of corps recipes with the help of several contributors. These recipes will not only offer alumni, staff and volunteers a nostalgic keepsake; they’ll also contribute to drum corps and other organizations that need to feed a large group on a tight budget.
Carol and Tina have graciously donated the last batch of cookbooks for the GAA to sell. Sales of these books will contribute to our expenses, such as storing our treasured Glassmen memorabilia and purchasing merchandise to sell to alumni and fans.
If you missed buying one on the first round, stay tuned. They’ll be available for sale online soon. Don’t miss this chance to get your very own Glassmen Drum & Bugle Corps cookbook, made with love from our volunteers.
